lyrics
We honed our craft in squalor
Squat on floors, sleeping in cars
For a half hour to holler
In the corner of dive bars
It's a long way to the top, and we're used to living low
Killed another crowd tonight and that's all we have to show
Liars and thieves, snakes in the leaves
Vultures just waiting to bite
Kicked in the head; robbed, left for dead
Without even seeing the fight
Abandoned by some we called brother
Those who all swore to stay true
Spit on your memory and try this again
This time we got nothing to lose
I look out ahead and I see a steep climb
Don't think twice about scaling the peaks
And we're willing to die for one shot at the gold
And we'll chase that damn prize til we're withered and old
Maybe, baby we can find a way out
Without you
Maybe we can get out of this place
And when we do
Hit the ground at a record pace
Grab the world by it's throat and spit right in it's face
Pretty much the best Black/Speed Metal I've listened to since I learned about Evil Invaders and Vulture. Everything you'd love to be reminded of about this musical era is there. The influences are what you'd expect too: Motörhead, Venom, Bathory, early Slayer, Celtic Frost; aggressive vocals, tortured guitar solos, pounding drums; everything is fast, clear and still a little grimy, but without reverb cranked up to the max. Amazing band, amazing album. Odiumediae
Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
Trading majestic drone for smoldering assaults, the iconic Japanese outfit rekindle the leaden aggression of their early period. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 8, 2020
